I’m having thoughts of self-harm and suicide

I’m in immediate harm or danger

  • Visit Your Local Emergency Room
Your local hospital’s emergency room is staffed with professionals 24/7 who are trained in crisis response and can help support you and keep you safe. If you feel you are safe enough to get yourself from your current location to the emergency room, this is another option for getting immediate help. You can also ask a trusted friend or loved one to drive you to the hospital. It can often be helpful to have the support of someone you know and trust.

Contact Emergency Services
Call 9-1-1
If you or a loved one are in immediate danger, calling 9-1-1 may be necessary. Please notify the operator that this is a mental health emergency and ask for officers trained in crisis intervention. This will connect you with first responders and emergency medical services. These are trained professionals who can help evaluate your situation, offer support in ways best for your situation, and keep you safe. It can be scary to take this step, but it is one of the most brave things you can do if you struggle with suicidal ideation that has escalated to the point you are no longer safe.
